Breakfast , followed by a stop at the church that happens to be across the road – what a surprise to find a 3rd century treasure right under our noses !
Continued the lovely walk through the back streets of Brera to the Pinoteca gallery. Spent a good 2 hours examining all the magnificent artworks as well as the Ancient Greek and Latin text library .
Amazing to see some live art restoration work underway as well – fascinating to see the meticulous work and the way they need to control the light and air in the process too.
By this time Olivia was starting to feel unwell – coming down with something perhaps so headed home for lunch and a rest. Sebastian and Joe headed out in search of new SIM cards but ended up zooming around the city on some e-bikes!
Reconvened at Santa Maria Grazia to meet our pre booked guide to see Leonardo de Vinci’s Last Supper – amazed by its size and provenance – was very impressive in real life. Cold and brisk walk home through the Sforza palace courtyard , followed by a cracking home-cooked Milanese veal casserole dinner we whipped up !
