It’s Xmas Eve here ! So naturally the morning started off with a mega shop for Xmas day food .
After that we headed off to Fénis , stopping along the way at La Copan – a local cheese maker – saw all the cheese maturing , tasted some local goodies and made friends with a magnificent pig!
Then headed into the charming village of Fenis to visit three Medieval castle there from the 14th century – remarkably curated and preserved . We were lucky to tack onto the last guided tour of the day, meaning we got some inside info into some treasures including a fireplace so large it could fit all of us in, examples of some of the first folding chairs made, the beautifully carved glory boxes from the 16 and 1700s, and the incredible central courtyard with frescoes of St George and the Dragon and St Christopher.
In the late afternoon, some of us drive to nearby St Vincent for a walk and a look – location of one of 2 casinos in northern Italy .
Much excitement followed in the evening with the long awaited arrival of Carl and Vince – along with his suitcase of goodies straight from Calabria!
