Changeover day already after 6 nights in Chambave coming to an end.

Hit the road at around 10:30, and stopped for a break in Bergamo.

First time visiting , it was a vary tidy town with some wonderful houses, shops and a unique mix of classic architecture, fascist buildings and the modern. Bergamo is split into 2 – the Citta Alta, the old walled part of the city that is high up , and the more recent Citta Balta – lower city with wide boulevards and classic Italian buildings.

We set off the visit the Citta Alta which required a ride up in another cable car . At the top we wandered around the little old streets of the town until we reached the main Basilica – mind blowingly ornate with sculpture reliefs on the ceiling , massive wall-sized tapestries and carved wooden panels depicting key bible stories . Some wonderful dancing cherubs we all loved too!

After a hot chocolate top-up we finished the drive to Verona , and after circling the roundabout a few times – found our meet and greet and settled in to our new digs. Quick dinner at local pizza restaurant and then bed!
